I’ve seen a few queries recently on the forums of Moodle.org about how to make metacourses in Moodle 2.0 so I thought I would make a video. It works differently in 2.0 because the whole course enrolment system is different.
- First – metacourses have to be enabled (ie, have their eye opened) by the site administrator in Site administration>plugins>enrolment>manage enrol plugins.
- Second – the teacher has to choose metacourse link as an enrolment method once they have made their course. NOTE that you don’t get the “is this a metacourse?” option as you used to in 1.9 when you create your course – that’s caused some of the confusion.
- Finally – once the method has been added you are then presented with a drop down from which to select the linked course you want to bring users in from. I noticed that a regular teacher doesn’t get the drop down list unless the admin gives them the capability to select courses as metalinked; after that, they can select from other courses they teach in.
