Moodle 2 for Teaching 7-14 Yr Olds by Mary Cooch

As I have said (twice) before, I have reviewed all the Packt Moodle books since I began this blog in December 2007 so I see no reason why I shouldn’t review my own! Moodle 2 For Teaching 7 -14 Year Olds has just been published; it is an update to the original 1.9 version from March 2009.  However, I was asked by OurLearning if I would put the review on their blog as “guest blogger” which I am often happy to be. So here is my review of Mary Cooch’s Moodle 2 For Teaching 7 -14 Year Olds. It is available from Packt  but I am hoping to have it in www.moodle.org books database too and if you buy it from there a percentage of sales goes to the Moodle trust. Oh and the rest goes to our school funds, so buy my book and a Preston child gets more IT funding 🙂

I want to publicly thank THE Ben Reynolds, Louise Jakobsen and Nellie Deutsch for being tech reviewers of the book. I want to do this publicly because I only knew about Ben and the identities of the  other two mysterious reviewers only revealed themselves when I saw the final draft of the book, so thanks to all three: to Ben for his mastery of the English language (even though he is American…) to Louise for her attention to detail on accessibilty issues and to Nellie for her pedagogical wisdom.

  1. Mary, your Moodle 2 for Teaching 7-14 Yr Olds is amazing. I loved reviewing it because I learned so much. I should be thanking you.

  2. I also want to compliment Mary’s English, which is quite good, even though she’s English 🙂

On a more serious note, this is quite a good book — clear and helpful. Although the audience is clearly named in the title, many Moodlers who are not in Mary’s bullseye would learn a lot from this book.

  3. Mary, I hope you received a complimentary copy for your review of your book. I’m sure Koen will enjoy reading it when you next visit us in Belgium.

PS Moodle 2 for Teaching 7-14 Year Olds is now available from http://moodle.org/books
